Hello everyone! My name is Sarah from Sunlight After Rain and you may remember me from my lil' ol' How to Organize Your Closet post a little while back. You guys were so sweet and so excited about the organizing that I thought I'd clue you in on a few of my other favorite tips ;) And even better? It's another way to keep your clothes organized!
After I had gotten my closet organized, I struggled to keep my drawers clean as well. I tried rolling, piling and even just throwing everything in there. No matter what method I used, something was always lost and I could never find what I needed. So I took to Pinterest and YouTube and after a few weeks of trial and error I found a system that works perfectly - guaranteed!
I tried taking a few pictures of it, but I think this video explains better than I ever could:
Take an hour. Follow what she says. Dump all of your clothes on the floor and organize them. For me, it was musical t-shirts, UMD t-shirts and everything else (that says so much about me! haha). Then turn on some good music (I recommend Ellie Goulding or maybe Ke$ha's new album? They'll both make you dance and forget you're doing something as boring as folding!) and just do it.
Once it's done, you'll only need to do it again when you do laundry which won't take long at all as this is quicker than 'normal' folding!
When you're done, your drawer will look like this:
How nice is that? I can totally see every shirt I need (I ran out of space a little bit which is why some of them are sideways - I do have too many clothes, I know!).
Here are a few tips to keep your drawer organized:
1) When you take something out and don't wear it, put it back IMMEDIATELY. Don't put it on the floor or on the top of your clothes and think, "Oh, I'll get back to it when I get home/do laundry/etc." You won't. You know you won't. Take the 3.6 extra seconds (even if you're running late!) to put it back. It will help. I promise.
2) Take out what you don't need! When I set about organizing my drawers, I had a lot more t-shirts than are shown above! (Hard to believe, I know!) Just do it. Again, it's one of those things where, when it's done, you're just gonna feel better about it.
3) Make sure you can see each piece of clothing. If you can't see it or know what it is, then how are you going to know you want to wear it? Either you won't wear it and therefore it is taking up space or you'll take it out and have to fold it again (see #1). Just take the time to make sure the fold of each t-shirt is visible and you won't regret it later.

That's amazing!! I am the queen of organization so I may have to attempt this, I've also rolled my t-shirts before and put them in the drawers that way. It worked for about a month! Thanks for sharing :)
Awesome, I will be doing this to my big boys dressers!
