4. Make your blog easy to follow.
I cannot stress this one enough. If you're on blogger, put the GFC widget close to the top. No one wants to scroll the whole way through your blog to find it. I also highly recommend making a link to BlogLovin & RSS. Make sure to put all the ways to follow you on social media near the top too.
5. Use social media as much as you blog.

5. Use social media as much as you blog.
Social media is a great way to connect with bloggers and to share your posts. I use Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram daily. Some quick tips? Twitter is a MUST. Also, make a Facebook page separate from your personal profile. This way, people can follow you easier and you won't spam your friends. Lastly, try to make everything consistent with your brand. For example, my Twitter is twitter.com/newlywedmoments, my Pinterest is pinterest.com/newlywedmoments, etc.
6. Make sure you aren't a no-reply comment blogger.
6. Make sure you aren't a no-reply comment blogger.
What's that? It's when you comment on someone's blog, but they can't respond because your email isn't linked to your blog account -- they aren't ignoring you! This also happens if your Google+ account is linked to your blog. Not sure if this is you? Comment on your own blog as a test. It's easy to fix and I explain how to do that in this post.
7. Connect with other bloggers.
7. Connect with other bloggers.
Blogging gives you the opportunity to meet some really like-minded people that can turn into friends! Equally important to producing content on your blog is interacting with your readers. Join some link parties (but not so many that you're missing that quality content). Reply to comments (and respond to them via email -- if you respond below their comment on your blog, they won't get a notification). When you follow someone new, it's nice to let them know, but don't just comment "I'm your newest follower...follow me back?" Write them a nice comment, or even send an email!
8. Advertise on other blogs.

OMG! This information is so helpful! I'm a new blogger as well. I started at the beginning of this year and this thing is so much more that I ever could have expected. When I first started, I said I was doing it for me, but then people started following and I became more interested and have people reading my posts!! It's so much fun. I love letting people get to see a little bit of me. Now I want to share more of myself with others and that's the hard part!! I will definitely put some of these things into practice! Thanks!!
This is a great post! Thank you so much for all of the advice! I just started blogging last month and this is very informative and helpful!

This is so helpful!
I'm so excited about Bigs and Littles! Who knew so many bloggers were in my own town?!
Thanks for the advice!

I'm also in the bigs and little but need to get the button up!! I've been doin Everythin 4rm my phone lately! thanks for the awesome advice though. i agree with the readers over followers! though I've not been so worried about growing my blog as i am about connecting with others!
Definitely agree with staying true to who you are...I know some bloggers who get their following because they are really sarcastic and witty...I have my moments, but I know that's just not who I am all the time...
It's hard to stick with "your personality" when you see these other bloggers get such a great response to their hilarious-ness....xoxo
This is great! Thank you for posting! I am a new blogger and find this very helpful!

Thank you for the tips, I'm new any advice is always appreciated. Have a great day.
Great post, Emily!
Great advice! I need to get more organized with my blogging and set some guidelines. This is something I don't do well. I just want to do and be it all. I'm learning.
Thank you! I feel like I have been stagnant for so long w followers. I am not sure if it's because I am not blogging about they want to read but I do blog for me and write about our life so I can make books out of it for our future kids and grandkids to read.
A great post...I like the way you got to the point and with valuable information! Thanks K
This was really helpful! I'm am looking forward to all your upcoming blogging advice.

Congrats on such a very fast success in the blog world! I've been blogging over a year, and I'm still under 200 readers. I think they are great tips.
I feel like I've done most of these things, minus advertising because I'm a poor college kid! lol But it's good to know that you have a Swap option :)
such great tips Emily!!! :)
Great information & I'm now a new sponsor! Thanks for all of the tips Emily!
What a great advice post- it seems so simple! I like your idea of button swapping...I guess my problem is that I haven't made a button yet! I should get on that.
Over 1k in 4 months! That is impressive. I've been at this way longer and probably wont' reach that but I'm okay with that because I remember why I started blogging in the first place and it was never about numbers. Also, like you I'd rather have followers who actually read my blog rather then ones who just show up in my GFC. When I started social media linking wasn't all that big. I'm a big one for 1st impressions as well. If you have a bright red background with red font and I can hardly read your posts I'm not going to follow you. OR, if you have a music widget that makes me listen to your music. I haven't seen anyone do that in a while thank goodness! Great tips.
I definitely agree with your advice about making the gfc follow widget easy and quick to find!
Great post! I agree with you on soooo muchof this, and it took me while to figure it out.
Another suggestion would be to download the Hoot Suite app or something similar. This way, not only do I schedule my post, but I can also schedule certain posts to my social media outlets so I don't have to be online all day. The only time it's actually me updating is when it's something random or if it's my Instagram. Everything else is usally pre-planned a day or two before :-)
xoxo
Thank you for sharing! your blog is lovely!

Thanks for this post, Emily! It's full of helpful information. I will have to really work on some of these things and digest them when I have a bit more time later on. I am a long-time blogger without much growth. I really want to develop relationships with my readers and grow my blog so that was one of my new year's resolutions. I've been actively trying to make blogging friends/connections, but it's hard. I feel like I'm in high school all over again. I don't have Facebook (and don't intend to) and I'm not great at using Twitter so I'm sure that's a huge battle for me. A lot of these things are useful and I look forward to more posts like them!
Thanks for all of the great tips! =)

Great advice! I totally didn't realize that I do fall trap to trying too hard to be witty like some other bloggers. Maybe it works and maybe it doesn't haha but taking a step back to see if I truly write from my personality. I always write from the heart, so no issues there :-)
Can't wait to meet you sometime!!
Thanks for these! I've been reading a lot of blogging tips lately and they're so helpful. I've had my blog for a year and a half but just started posting regularly in January. I'm still trying to figure it all out!
Nice advice, I think I'd agree with basically all of this. How did you decide how much $ you spend on your blog? I know you guys are newlyweds like myself so just curious how you started into that. I'm pretty hesitant to spend any money as of yet.
Thank you for all the information! Very helpful!
LOVE THIS!! & love sponsoring with you!! :) If i Hit 1000k followers than I made it in blog land :)
Love these tips! They are all very true. I'm your newest follower hon :)

I can't believe you have over 1000 followers in 4 months!! Amazing!
You are the sweetest emily. Thanks for still being so humble and helping all us small bloggers!
One thing that I found so impressive about you when you first started blogging is that you weren't afraid to ask for what you wanted! I think it's so important to put yourself out there as a blogger. And sometimes you're going to get rejected, but most of the time people are more than happy to swap with you/give advice/help out any way they can.
These tips are great Emily! :)
Reaching 1,000 after four months definitely means you have an "it" factor! I took over two years to make it to 1,000, but I wanted it that way because I have learned SO much and forged many relationships. Congrats to you, beautiful!
AMAZING post! I found your blog today and just started blogging on friday! This is just what I needed! Thank you!!

Love your Blog!! Glad I found it! www.WavesofLoveandLife.com
Thank you for posting this valuable information, especially for us newbie bloggers. Congrats on receiving over 1000 followers in a short period of time.
I typed into google how to get more followers and your site popped up. This post helped me out so much since I am also new to blogging and I absolutely love the fact that you're a follower of Jesus as well. It's so refreshing to talk to others about Jesus and it helps me feel even closer to Him when I can surround myself with others who believe in Him too. Anyways, I will try and use the tips you provided because I do hope my blog can be positive for others and successful too! Check out my blog if you have time: www.twentyonetolife.blogspot.com

Love all these tips. They are so helpful to a new blogger like me. And I love the mission statement. I think it is so important to stay true to why you started blogging in the first place.
I found you through Wifessionals. Thanks so much for this post. I have been blogging since 2006 but have just recently moved from Typepad to Wordpress. It's a whole new learning curve and seems as if I have never blogged before. Anyways, the whole was I a no-reply blogger mystified me. Your easy to follow explanation helped clear it all up. Thanks!
I love this! Thanks for the help.. I'm a published writer (my actual journal was published) and haven't written anything in awhile-- I truly miss it. So I started a blog and kind of feel lost/overwhelmed due to all the amazing blogs I've become addicted to (yours included!).
Kudos to you!

Hi Emily,
Thank you so much for this post! It is so helpful while starting out to have advice and I love that your experience starting up was so recent. Thanks!

Your blog is so simple and pretty! Thanks for such great tips. I especially love the last part, that you should never lose sight of the reason why you started a blog. I always find that I need to come back to the source, the Lord, when I'm feeling discouraged. Have a great weekend! :)
